If you find yourself wandering through Kingston, Ontario, make sure to stop by the Tea Room, a delightful café nestled at 45 Union St, right on the Queen's University campus. This charming spot is not just a haven for coffee and tea lovers; it’s a sanctuary for anyone who appreciates quality, sustainable practices, and a welcoming atmosphere.

The Tea Room offers a refreshing menu that caters to all tastes. Whether you’re craving something cold like their Iced Americano or wanting to indulge in a comforting Iced Latte, you’re in for a treat. For those seeking a light yet satisfying meal, their sandwiches, such as the mouthwatering Chicken Pesto and the rich Pesto Melt, are crafted with care and flavor in mind. Don’t overlook the delightful array of treats either; each bite of their fresh-baked Cookie, Scone, or decadent Brownie feels like a warm embrace.

What truly sets the Tea Room apart is its commitment to sustainability. As highlighted by Kaelyn Hawkins, the café’s eco-friendly initiatives are remarkable. With zero consumer waste, all items are either compostable or recyclable, making this stop not just a treat for your palate, but also for the planet. The café is also Fair Trade Certified, providing ethically sourced ingredients that ensure a higher standard from farm to cup.

The atmosphere within the Tea Room is another allure. With soft music playing and a cozy seating arrangement, it’s the perfect place to unwind, enjoy good company, or simply relish a moment of peace with your favorite beverage. As Emma Howard puts it, it’s “a great little cozy coffee shop right on campus,” radiating warmth and friendliness. The staff is known for their attentive service, ensuring that every visit feels special, even amidst busier hours. While patrons like Sam Marley remind us that you may encounter a wait, they affirm that it's worth it for the impeccable bagels and drinks.

One element that should not be missed is the legendary bagels. Jonas Marshall raves about them, stating they are “off the chart bagelicious.” Imagine sinking your teeth into a fluffy, freshly baked plain bagel topped with creamy spinach and feta. It’s these little details that transform an ordinary coffee run into an experience worth savoring.

For anyone exploring Kingston, the Tea Room offers not just a delightful menu but an invitation to partake in a community-conscious approach to dining. Discover great food, feel good about your choices, and immerse yourself in a convivial atmosphere that reflects the essence of this vibrant city. Don’t just take our word for it—visit the Tea Room today, and let it become your favorite café on campus and beyond!

Great little cozy coffee shop right on campus. They have options for a light breakfast or lunch, as well as lots of tea options, and espresso-based drinks. Beverages are very reasonably priced, food is a little more expensive than something like Tim Hortons, but worth it! They also serve hot and cold drinks. I like the friendly cozy atmosphere, and the service is good. I like that they provide healthy options for a quick snack, and have fresh locally sourced foods. I Also like that all the cups are compostable, and they will even serve your beverage in your own travel mug (which also gets a 15% discount!)

Bagels are off the chart bagelicious, most drinks are also a banger (shoutout apple pie chai and iced chai latte), but some are pretty much just there for a caffeine fix. Scones and Sammys are also slayful

This is my first visit to the Tea Room and I am very impressed. First of all, on the eco-friendly side, all of their disposable items have zero consumer waste. On the ethical side, The Tea Room is labelled a Fair Trade Certified Cafe. On the community side, the food is locally sourced. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the food is freshly made, with loads of healthy choices. The prices are reasonable, and the service is friendly. The Tea Room features upteen types of expresso based drinks, teas, and specialty drinks. The music is pleasant, and at a level that is relaxing. They even have daily specials. What more could you ask?
